Question:

Is there any difference between the "FULL HD" and the "HD Ready 1080p" standards?

I recently bought a LCD TV (Sony KDL 40D3500). My retailer convinced me it is FULL HD, but when I got home I found a label on it that states that it`s a "HD READY 1080p". Wikipedia says "HD ready 1080p (not equivalent to Full HD)", but their Full HD link redirects me to a page called 1080p. I`m very confused, did the retailer trick me or do the two terms have the same meanings ?

  1. Full HD is 1080p (Progressive scan. Reads directly from the disc and projects to the TV) 1080i is not full HD (Interlace. Fills in lines with with the gun)
