  1. Bamboo is often touted as being antimicrobial. However, all cellulose based fibres absorb water, and can therefore encourage microbial growth. Bamboo fibre can also allow UV light to penetrate the cloth.  Not exactly a great thing to protect yourself against sunburn.

However, there are a number of advantages. Current research is endeavouring to fix the problems to hopefully provide a more sustainable alternative to cotton.

  2. apart from the risk of being chased by hungry pandas,

i do not think there is a bad side to that material

  3. It is generally more expensive.  Also if we switched entirely to it, there would be too much demand for bamboo and it would be planted so much that it would be an invasive species and we would be at risk in some environments from a monoculture farming environment.  I don't think it's a very realistic reason, but I'm just giving you the worst case scenario reasoning.

  4. wow, i can't imagine someone will doubt that clothing has disadvantages. it is almost perfect.

see this link to see its advantages.

if ever there are some, the advantages are more powerful than it

  5. Well, it takes about 100 years for bamboo to grow (no kidding) to a desirable size.  And with the small amounts of bamboo in the world as it is, I wouldn't be the one to support this kind of clothing.
