Is there any doubt that CC Sabathia is the best pitcher in MLB today?

In 7 starts since being traded he has 4 complete games and an ERA under 2. I can only see 2 pitchers that are even in the same class, Lee and Halladay.

I think CC is fueled by his contract year, the Brewers aren't going to re-sign him, and the Brewers are running him into the ground and relying on him to get them into the playoffs.  I can name five pitchers that are better than CC today Webb, Lee, Lackey,Johan Santana, and Halladay, heck even Tim Lincecum is better than Sabathia. Sabathia is a good pitcher, but not the best.

He's the hottest pitcher in the game right now, but I think there are some serious doubts about whether he is the best. Halladay, Lee, Webb are all in his class. Of that group I still give the edge to Halladay as being the best overall.

I think that Brandon Webb has shown he is the best pitcher in baseball. I am not a DBacks fan by any means, but I know this is true. I personally think Sheets is better than Sabathia when healthy. He has the best curveball I think I have ever seen.

To me, looking at your logic, it would seem he is playing against lower caliber batters than before. Halladay can shut down American League East teams many times which is more impressive than wins over Cincinnati, Atlanta, Colorado, Washington, and San Fransisco.

I am not saying he isn't a dominating pitcher, cause he is, but if it takes facing lower talented offenses to show that, I'm not gonna crown him the best just yet. Not to mention his poor performances in the ALCS last year against the Red Sox.

I agree with Mr. B . . . he is, easily the hottest pitcher in baseball at the moment. I can NOT fathom his record prior to the Brewers.

He is also the hottest hitting pitcher in the majors.

CC Sabathia is a great pitcher with amazing stuff. But, he does not have the stamina to be called "The Greatest." Also, he isn't as efficient in his pitch count as pitchers like chin meing wang (getting alot of ground ball outs). All in All, he is great, but there are better pitchers, such as chin ming wang, and brandon webb.

its hard for me to say hes the best because its only 7 starts (inhuman starts but still).  Hes a very talented pitcher, but consistency is more important in my opinion.  I'd say, as of now i wouldnt want anyone else pitching for my team.

Is there any doubt?  Yes, absolutely.  He wasn't even the best pitcher on his own team until he got traded.

Brandon Webb just won his 17th game with a season ERA of 2.88, Cliff Lee is 16-2 for a sub-.500 team.  I'd say the 2 of them are the only ones vying for that title right now.

In those 7 starts you mentioned, Sabathia has wins over San Fran, Atlanta, Washington, Cincinnati, and Colorado.  Not exactly the toughest schedule in baseball.
