  1. Unfortunately there is no way to determine that. At some point there will be scratches that have physically removed layers of information off the disk its self that would make it impossible to read by any DVD player. However I had a lot of luck with Pioneer DVD players in the past. Specifically the model DVD-45A. Although they don't make that anymore. Just start with Pioneer
