  1. Well one way to think about it is that humans couldnt have been around forever so who could have created us? The dinasours? I dont think so. God did. But God is one thing that humans arent even supposeed to know the answer to his origin. You are just supposed to trust in his believance/existence.Some things are too big to tell.

  2. No. The reason the God concept is still around is because we use 'God' to explain things we don't understand yet.

I know some people argue that God exists due to the perfection of math and harmony of the universe, but in reality, math is not an exact science when applied to the real world. There are no equations that can acuatley model the real world 100%, but sometimes we can get close.

  3. The only evidence that I have seen involves the testimony of many people who have lived through near-death experiences. This is of questionable merit due to the obvious stressful conditions, and it has nothing to do with any organized religion whatsoever.

  4. There are some things that cant be explained by science e.g. the big bang

if their was a big bang who would have started it, people talk about molecules and stuff but who would have created it??

  5. No, but religious people will tell you otherways. I mean you can say this about many things. You cant see the wind, yet you can feel it and see pass through light objects.

People cant see god but they claim they have "Felt" him.

But the question is would people still follow the rules if god presented himself? Are people Truely ready for a master figure to be real...

  6. The existence of God is strictly a matter of faith.

  7. Scientific. Right lets start with how many times the scientists tried to explain what happened with the red sea for instance and Moses. On discovery, according to them it was a tsunami, caused by a volcano erupting, at precise the time Moses asked God to help, at precise the time they stood at the sea with no way out. So the "tsunami" came at exactly the same time. The waters moved back... (Hello? There was a wall of water on both sides. not just one side like a tsunami would have caused.) and then flooded back, exactly when all the israelites moved over, and exactly when the egyptians was in the centre, leaving only the king alive. MMM. Scientists killed themselves on that one. Too much coincidence and timing. Hahaha. Sodom and Gomorra. An earthquake according to the scientists. So the people had a lot of cooking fires. And gasses escaped from the earth and that is why fire and brimstone came falling down out of the air? Hahaha again. No other such happenings. How did the angels know? Lots of thousands of years later we can not predict when and where an earthquake will happen. How did they know that. Again too much coincedence and time. 0 to the scientists. 2 Proofs of God exist. Lol. This is actually funny how the people try to show that he does not exist, and show themselves to be fools. Lots of instances like this. Anybody doubt this, then email me. nico.vdwesthuizen@ediholdings.co.za

God was, is and always will be.

  8. Yes, the persecution of the Jews who claim to be his people.

  9. There are many unanswered questions in science.  Tens of thousands of scientists across the world are devoting their lives and spending billions of dollars trying to find answers and in time, some will be found and others will remain.  However, none of these is any evidence of the existence of a creator called God or anything else.

Believers will try to tell you that God is the answer to everything - they were saying it 400 years ago when Galileo dared to suggest that the Earth orbited around the Sun and they are still saying it today with the Big Bang and Black Holes.  In another 400 years they will still be saying it because religion is stuck in the past, hanging on to their beliefs in a form of self-preservation.

  10. what do you expect?  a snapshot taken with the Hubble of God looking back at us?

    http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl...

    uh... nevermind.

  11. Yes...it's all around you. God permeates all things in creation.

Look at the geometry of nature and you will see God.

All the people who don't say anything is there to look at, they are all wrong.

Actually, the Bible is telling you a secret about nature in regards to geometry...so you are actually incorrect in your assumptions that the Bible contains NO valid information in regards to God.

Ancients who built the pyramids recognized God through geometry of the universe which is sacred.

There is much more to this.....geometry is the means of the act through creation. The act of creation happens through another means as well.

All of nature, plants and animals contain geometry, one set of geometry which rules over them.

  12. The design arguement...everything is so well designed that like a "watch must have a creator" so must everything thus, god.

  13. Well, in order to prove or not the existance of God you must first DEFINE what do you exactly mean by GOD??

You mean an old, white beard man, who made us, humans, in his resemblance, as percive by Christians, or you mean as the pagan religions from which Judaism and Christianity evolve, which thoguht that the Sun was a God, in which case as it is something tangible, you could say that yes, it does exist (the Sun), though not as a concious entity, but a simple source of energy! Or you might mean God in the way I see it and believe in, where I believe in that there is something´, that I can not explain, but i do not necessarily think of it has to be a great power with some short off conscience and plan for us, just some sort of energy, eg. the Big ban, or what ever was before it, as the CAUSE we are here today, of which we know little just now, and thats why we call it God.

The way I see it, God is a result of mankind evolution. As the moment our brains develop enough to understand the concept of Cause-Effect / Action-Reaction, we were at the same time bond to the need of finding a cause to everything we saw, to the extend that where our knowledge & inteligence failed to reasonably and logically provide an answer, we had to provide that answer through our imagination, in order to calm our thirst, powerless and frustration of not being able to explain so much of our world/universe!

This is a feeling which I understand and do not criticize, as there is so much information out there coming to us through our senses, that knowledge and answers just rise more questions.

Probably for this reason, even great thinkers with such deep knowledge of our surroundings like A. Einstein also had so profound feelings about God and its existance!

Therefore, the way I see it, God could be interpreted as a synonymous of "the lack of logical/scientific answer" explaining the cause, due to our lack of information, means to collect this information, and incapability to understand it!!

It is also true to say that with time many of the questions ask by men were able to be answer in a logical manner, per example darwin´s evolution theory vs the Bible´s Genesis, nevertheless for some strange reasons that I am not going to get into, some peolpe are refusing to use their brains to analyse the evidence!

For this reason I do not consider my self an atheist. I was born in a muslim house and feel confortable of being such, but we should always be encourage to open our minds and think, and not the opposite.

    Hope my answer is adecuate,

    Salam from Spain

    P.S.

VANHITE: the documentaries you are mentioning were trying to give scintifi base to the bibles tales, thefore trying to give it credibilty, that was its object, so they more on your side thatn of an atheists, but you have got so narrow vision that you can no even see that. Also, just cause they do it so wrongly, it does not mean that we should assume everything written in the bible is true! You can not even see how senseless is to use the bible at ist own with out contrasting it with other information, as an argument of the credibility of the bible!!

DUNNO: Based on darwins theories, the competition between the best designs, it is logical and undestandable that everything you see know will have great design, otherwise it would not be hear today!!

VARTEX: What has the name of the question riser has to do with the topic, you prejudice fool? Look around you and you will find many people who are atheist with cristians, jews, or muslim names, cause that a decision they did not made!

JELASAIS: Egiptians also wrote for 5000 years about the SUN as a God, and many other before them and before writting appear also considered the SUN as a God, so according to your own argument, actually they are right, and thus Christianity, Judaism, Isma..etc are wrong!

KAY H.: Persecution of the Jews is no prove of God at all. They can believe of them selve as the chosen people of their own god, thats ok for me, as long as they keep that god to themselve and not try to use it as a method of opresion to others, by making them believe in that god: "yes yes, God does exist, but he wants you and everybody else but us to eat SH I T  for eternity after death while we will eat strawberries casue we are the chosen people, and for that reason we want you to star eating S HIT  now and clean our boots, cause we are thus the suprems"!!! Sorry, but I do not buy that!

MAXMIND: you should call yourselve minusmind!

Why don´t you give me examples and names of those scientist you mention taking about miracles. By definition (of a scientist) I gues he can call something very improbable a miracle, as a way of speaking, but not something proven to be imposible, cause if its happens, it just prove that theyr math were wrong! I think you are confusing Priest with Scientist.

KATEKEYO: I like your answer, though you are smartly avoiding it a bit!!

SITTI:  = Nonsense! No comments!! Well, just one, who says nonexistance is an imperfection? You percive imperfection through your senses, so it does not exist, you can not percive, thus how can you appretiate its imperfection. Also, your assumption that god is perfection (assuming for the clarification that he does exist) is again not proven, so using something umproven as the basis to prove something else makes no sense!

    LARRY 454: good approach!

  14. No. There is also no evidence against the existence of God. He is outside logic and the laws of physics.

  15. Science and religion complement each other, but looking for proof of one in the other is searching for answers in the wrong place.  The objective of religion is to give us confidence about "why" things happen, while science attempts to explain "how" they happen.  You won't find proof of God in science, just as you won't find scientific answers in religion.  Looking for scientific evidence of God is depriving God of his divinity, and using religion to explain physical world phenomena is speculation not supported by any evidence, only faith.  Try reading "God's Mechanics" by Guy Consolmagno, it will help you understand how science and religion can co-exist, and how deeply religious scientist don't find any conflict between the two.

  16. The correct answer is:  no.

However, we must be careful.  The absence of proof is NOT proof of absence.

The fact that we cannot prove God's existence does not prove that God does not exist.

Faith requires that you believe without any proof.  Religion requires that you don't question faith.

Science requires that you question everything that is not proven (and even then, you can still question what appears proven).

Given the two different philosophies, I "predict" possible clashes.

However, a lot of scientific advancements have come from very religious scientists.  Especially during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, only the Church had enough resources to pursue scientific research.

Contrary to popular belief, Vatican astronomers continued to exchange data with Galileo and to record his discoveries. Even today, the Vatican operates many observatories and they too study the universe using scientific rules of evidence.

The real reason for the trouble Galileo got himself into were more political, e.g., openly questioning the authority of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum committee:  he had his books published without their permission and he made fun of them (and the pope) in some of his books.

Religious books, like any other books, are useful for some purposes.  They become nonsense if you try to use them for the wrong purposes.

I would not use a Star Wars book or movie as a means of better understanding how the universe works (the science in there is atrocious).  However, as entertainment and as a study of interaction between groups of people wanting to use power to different ends, it can be useful.

  17. OK, so The Hitchicker's Guide series by Douglas Adams is certainly not religious. But in it he describes forty foot tall burning letters - God's last message to his creation: "WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE".

    Oh, wait, that's fiction.

    How about this:

God is defined as the most perfect being. Nonexistence is an imperfection. Therefore God exists.

    or how about this:

I think, therefore I am.  Thinking implies a thinker, therefore I exist.  For the record, I am God.  Therefore God exists.

    Now we're getting somewhere.

  18. evidence is science

I'm sure everyone knows that god and science don't mix

That's because god is something that cannot be proven. That's why its called faith. Not facts.

God will never be proven to exist with evidence

  19. There is no evidence that he exists and there is no evidence that he doesn't exist. However, there are artifacts that are starting to 'prove' for lack of a better word the existance of Jesus. Anyway, I believe that God exists, and I really don't find any contradictions with science.

  20. No, there is no scientific evidence for any god or any supernatural entity.

One important idea, that has only come to be appreciated in the past couple of centuries, is that complex things can develop naturally from less complex things.  The shape of snowflakes is a simple example.  As near as we can tell, all of the compexity we see around us has natural origins---there are no clear counterexamples.

  21. If the religious books are all nonsense, how can God, a religious concept, be anything other than nonsense?

There is no scientific evidence whatsoever.

One person's religion is another person's copout.

  22. astronomy? your name is saddam? just what are you up to? anyway, look around you, trees animals people god created them the proof is right in front of you. to believe in god, you have to really rely on faith not science

  23. Actually, there is no evidence that God does not exist except for your perspective.  For 5000 years or more, man has been writing about His existence, but there have always been people who only believe what they can see, like oxygen, who have wanted substantiated proof.  Of course, you have personally seen oxygen, not just evidence of its existence.  Tell us what it looks like.  I hope you didn't just take someone else's word that it's there--they might have lied or been mistaken or just repeated a story they were told.  Most of the arguments against God's existence are based on someone's unwillingness to accept things they don't understand and so they have doubts.  That's OK.  You don't have to believe in God, despite quite a profusion of inferential evidence, He believes in you, but naturally you can never know that, just as you can never believe in concepts like love or forgiveness because there is no physical proof that they exist either.

  24. Did you questioned you're self why does some things are considered "miracles" by scientists?

That is not because "miracles" are that small part of 1% chance to happen but because it was considered something impossible!

P.S. The Bible is not a religious book, but became one as Christianity looked in the past at it's roots and discovered not only REAL historic events described in the various documents included in the book, but even a sense for life!
