yes it is there.

just log on to your gmail account.there u will find an option chat.just click it and u can chat.see to it that any of ur friends are online ok.

either download gtalk or in mail window on left hand side there is a facility

there is option Chat below the contacts at left

Click sign into chat. All your contacts come there
