  1. There are always flowers in the Netherlands, (except when there is a long freezing spell,) just not as concentrated as in the spring.

As in all countries, the plant gardens run by the Universities mostly have a good flower part too.

This is info for the Amsterdam one, Hortus Botanicus:

    Leiden: http://www.hortus.leidenuniv.nl/english/

Haren (in the north east of the country, near Groningen): http://www.hortusharen.nl/index.php?lang...

    Utrecht, (only in Dutch): http://www.bio.uu.nl/bottuinen/shared/co...

Wageningen: http://www.botanischetuinen.wur.nl/NL/Co... (the English pages do not seem to have any info, but entry is free, from 8 am till sunset.

There are more flowers to be seen, but you will have to hunt a little further to find them.

All along the coast and likely also inland there are places flowers are grown for seed and to grow the plants so they can be cut for flowers the next year. From the train I often saw them near Limmen and Hillegom, but there are more places like that.

Almost all city parks in the Netherlands have flowers in them, mostly well taken care of, and most parks around the big houses have flower gardens as well, but I do not know how to access the information about those. (And I am too lazy to try to find it through google, you can try that for the area you are likely to be, one of the Dutch words to search for is Buitenplaats.)

The tourist information offices (signposted VVV) can often give good detailed information for a big area around the town they are in, so just walk in and ask.

A different aproach would be to visit a group of alotments, as many of those have fabulous flowers, ask the local tourist information (wherever you stay) for the local one that is accessable by whatever transport you have, as each town in the Netherlands has them, often just outside the town, a busride from the center of town.

And of course, there are cut flowers on every weekly market, and in Amsterdam there is a market devoted to flowers, het Singel. http://www.amsterdam.info/shopping/flowe...

This site has a lot more info, including a searchable and a printable map of Amsterdam.
