Is there any free Backup tool, which helps in restoring image of entire C Drive (WinXp) on a blank hard disk?

Whenever there is any problem with windows, we need to reinstall it. In doing so, all windows based programs like anti-virus, office suit, accounting software, anti spy and the like; also need to be reinstalled. This is a time taking procedure. So the idea is, in case of windows crash, simply by restoring image all the windows and window based applications will be restored in one shot & the time will be saved. Other than Norton Ghost, is there any free window base simple solution for the same? Thanks & Regards.

  1. xcopy wont save your boot sector or compress the data, or make organised incremental backups, so its less than ideal.

  2. you don't need software to do this, use the Xcopy command in ms-dos mode ( go to start menu and click run then type command)

    this command will allow you to easily copy the entire contents of 1 drive to another yu can get the command syntax to use at this website:
