Is there any free tool that automatically converts a picture into vector graphics illustrations?

I am looking for a free software that will automatically take a photograph from my camera and covert it into a vector graphic illustration. thanks for your help.

Yes I believe the newest version of Inkscape supports automated tracing.

It's the option 'trace bitmap'

You have to upload your image to this site but the software does a very good job of conversion.
