  1. If you buy a ticket from the train system (Deutsche Bahn), you will have to purchase it from a specific starting point to a specific destination (assuming you don't get some sort of pass).  The tickets include whatever transfers are necessary - you will not need to purchase separate tickets for all the different connecting trains.

Be sure that you leave enough time for transfers on your ticket - e.g., don't leave yourself 3 minutes to get from Track 1 to 35 in Frankfurt, but 3 min. is enough at some of the really small stations with only two tracks.

Check the Deutsche Bahn website - their international page (link below) is in English

  2. Frequently the German Train System (die Deutsche Bahn) offers free rides to all who have a ticket for the race (or concert, or football game, or....).  Mostly they're happy if you take the train rather tahn driving.  Check out the back of the ticket or ask at the train station directly.  These offers are generally only for train stations "in the area".  I doubt if you could get there from Frankfurt or Stuttgart (in connection with the ticket).  Check with your travel agent or at the train station.  Otherwise a ticket costs between 16 & 37 EUROS and the trip takes anywhere between 1 hour 10 and 2 hours 30, depending on the type of train and the departing times.
