  1. You can create your own ventrilo hosted off your IP address.

    1. If your using windows you need to go to ventrilo.com and download from the server programs list  "Windows i386 - 32bit (Version 3.0.2)".

    2. Once that finishes installing you need to go to the start menu, go to all programs, and you should see "ventsrvr" inside youll see some options. First thing you want to do is open up the one that says "Command Prompt - NT", once that opens itll appear as a blackbox that says C:\Program Files\Ventsrvr>.    after that you need to type in - ipconfig, then press enter. It should tell you your IP address. Write that down somewhere because you will need it to sign onto your vent.

    3. Once you've copied that info, close command prompt and go back to ventsrvr in the start menu and open up "Edit INI File".  It should open up in notepad. At the top it says [Server], leave that alone. The only things you should change is the  name, phonetic, and admin password. For example the default name of the server is "Name=Server 1", you could change it to "Name=My Ventrilo" or something along those lines. Dont erase where it says name=, or adminpassword=, only replace the 0 with whatever you want the name or password to be. After you've named it and set the password to what you want it to be, save it, and then close.

    4. Go back to ventsrvr in the start menu, and you should see and option called "Ventrilo Server", click that and open it and another black box should open, at the bottom it should say "Ready:", this needs to be open at all times if your hosting the ventrilo from your IP address. So with that open, minimize it, and open up the actual ventrilo program from your desktop.

    5. (Im sure you already know how to do this) You see the option for user name with an arrow next to it, thats how you set up your user name, and below it you see server, thats where you enter your server options, so press the arrow next to that. A box should open where you put in the info. Where it says hostname, you want to put in the IP address your wrote down before, and the port number should be left alone at 3784. As long as you didnt set a password to connect to your vent then you can leave the password part blank(this is not the same password as the adminpassword). click ok, and if it says "MSG: Server is available. Press Connect, then you can connect to your server without a problem.

    6. In order for other people to connect you need to go back to ventrilo.com and on the side near download it should say My IP, click that and write down the IP address you see(It will be different then the IP address your previously wrote down). The IP you got from the ventrilo website is the one you will give to your friends in order for them to connect to your site. You personally will the the one you wrote down before.

    7. If you are connected to the internet from a router, then people might not be able to connect to your vent right away. Your probably going to have to Port Foward so people can join. What your going to do is go to this link : http://www.portforward.com/english/route...

    8. This is a list of all the routers, you need to find yours and select it, after youve selected your router it should give you a list of programs, you need to select Ventrilo Server. After that it should give you step by step instructions how to forward the ports so other people can join (I cant give you step by step since i dont know what router you might be using).

Once your done with that, your friends should be able to connect. Your vent should only be able to hold a maximum of 8 Slots, which means it can only have 8 people in the server at once. This is the way I got mine to work, I hope it does the same for you. Enjoy
