I'm thinking of bringing my surf board over there during my travel to VN.

  1. Here's a good website that lists surf spots in Vietnam and has a few pictures as well, the summer monsoon season is approaching, hopefully you can catch some good waves: http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Asia/Vietn...

  2. Vung Tau gets some decent swells when the weather is blowing from the NE. Descent rollers about 1 to 3 meters. Haven't spent much time further north, but the beach in VT has the right geography for good waves. (even the small waves have a good curl)

There are a couple of spots SE of Ben Tre that get decent swells (2 to 3 M), but you need a boat to get to them. The "beach" is knee deep in silty mud and the waves are about a kilo (or two) off-shore.

There is a dive center south of Nha Trang that has a web site. You could try and contact them. They'd know a lot more about the surf conditions than I do.

    Good Luck

  3. Rick M's Vung Tau answer might be correct.  I have been up and down the coast there and haven't seen anywhere that would have been good for surfing.  Think I would leave the board at home and go snorkling around HaLong.  Good Luck.

  4. ya, there is one spot I always go to, its at the beach east of where I live, but I dont know where you live so, just go to a beach
