  1. Try The  Homeschool Foundation.http://www.homeschoolfoundation.org/

They do not offer grants but are a private foundation that helps homeschool families who are in need.

  2. Are you talking about traditional homeschooling or cyberschool through a public/private umbrella school?  These are two totally different things.  The latter is distance learning, not homeschool.

And what state?  It is the state that determines the rules for all schools, and they are different.

  3. If you live in Florida, you can do the public school system's online program for free. You don't need a grant. http://www.flva.org/

  4. When you choose to home school you are responsible for all the cost associated with it.

Freedom; to home school that is; is not free.

Home school families do not receive any state, or federal funding that is why we have the freedom to choose our own curriculum's, and direct the education of our children as we see fit without any bureaucratic interference.

Some states do have public school on line, and will provide you with the materials and often times a computer as well.

This however is not home schooling, and you are still a public school student, and have to adhere to their requirements, and schedule.

These type of programs are often times portrait as  "free" programs, but they are paid for by tax dollars, so technically they are not free, there just is no extra out of pocket expense associated with them for those who choose to use these programs.

  5. Sadly, no...we get to pay for all of our stuff.  The upside is, though, that we get to determine what our children learn and when.  With grant money comes government control.  (Not digging at public programs...but a lot of people homeschool because their kids don't fit the public school scope and sequence for whatever reason.)

In some states, however, there are online charters (like K12) that will offer you everything at no cost to you.  This is because the program is an extension of the public schools and it is funded through public funds.

    Hope that helps!

  6. I am not familiar with Florida's homeschooling laws, but in our state the school district in which you live will loan text books upon request.  Check with your district to see if they loan out books.

There are also a lot of conferences and used book sales.  Check online for something close to you.

    Good luck.
