  1. As long as the mother receives Rhogam during her pregnancy, nothing.  If she doesn't, then the baby will be okay, but any future babies will not survive the pregnancy.  The mother's body will recognize future babies as foreign to her system and 'reject' them, much as an organ transplant patient's  body rejects a new organ.  Just be certain mom has the Rhogam, which will prevent this from happening.

  2. I don't remember which way is bad (baby neg & mom pos or vise versa), but they have a shot now that corrects it.  Any doctor should be able to confirm and give you advise.

  3. I don't think so.

It is only bad when the mother is RH Negative and the baby is RH positive.

I don't believe any medical intervention needs to be involved if mommy is positive and baby is negative.

  4. No, none.  There is only an issue if the mother is Rh- and the baby is Rh+.  And even then if you get rhogham shots you shouldn't have any issues.

  5. I just took a course that covered that kind of stuff last semester, and to be honest I can't remember that well. But I think that means a miscarriage.

  6. you need a D shot :)

  7. I don't know if that is even possible but consult your doctor. I am rh- neg. and I had to have a shot after each child was born to help with the next preg. They are all healthy and are in their thirties.

  8. Theoretically, the only thing that would happen is the baby could be sensitized, if his blood mixes with his mother's blood.  Not a problem if it is a boy, but it may cause difficulty for a girl in carrying her own babies.

That being said, I am not sure the baby is ever at risk for this.  Is it a risk for the childhood prank of becoming blood sisters (you know, pricking your fingers and pressing them together)??  I'm not sure what quantities of blood would have to be involved. If you know the father was Rh-negative, then ask your doctor.

  9. DON'T THINK ABOUT IT TILL THE BABY IS BORN ?

    BE POSITIVE ?
