  1. La Plaza Mayor is the name of several squares in cities in Spain. The main one is the one in the center of Madrid, it is a large enclosed square, with entrances through 3 arches placed on the corners. Quite beautiful and worth visiting. There are shops and small restaurants all around the square... Both on the inner and outer part. Considered a historical monument in general.

La Plaza de España, is also the name of many squares in cities in Spain. However the one you prabably are referring to is the one in Seville. It is across from the Parque de María Luisa near the center of the city. It has a small man made lake, a beautiful building of mudejar design (it was used in the filming of Lawrence of Arabia). The plaza and park were built for the world fair of 1929. The park is named after queen María Luisa, who gave the land as a gift to the city, so the park could be built. Both the park and plaza are worth visiting.

La Giralda, is the moorish tower attached to the cathedral in Seville.

CATEDRAL means cathedral in spanish. Spain has many famous ones such as the ones in: Madrid, Burgos, Seville, Valencia, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, Leon, Granada, etc.

The Palacio Real is the palace where the kings of Spain lived up until when the republic was installed in the 1930's. (at that time they went into exile). It is now used for official ceremonies and receptions. It contains the museum of arms and military articles on the lower level. Parts of the palace can be visited, (except on occasions when it is being used for an official reception, etc.) It is just across the sqaure from la Catedral de la Almudena on the far side of the Plaza de la Armería, and the Teatro Real on the front across the Plaza  de Oriente. Behind it, just beyond the museum,on a lower level you have some lovely gardens  called "El Campo del Moro" and these are all about 8 blocks from La Plaza Mayor...
