im very smart, but my cummulative GPA doesnt show this. All of my teachers are more than willing to write me recommendations for college but im worried that it wont be enough. im going into my senior year with a cummulative GPA of 2.4. i had a really tough year but i got it together towards the end. My junior year grades show an upward trend but i havent taken the SAT/ACT tests yet. i took the PSAT and scored within the top 25% of my class in all three areas. Im a good person with alot to offer any college i attend but i fear i may not get in to any... is there anything i can do or should i just give up and go to a 2 year college then to a 4 year.. if at all possible id rather be able to go to a 4 year right off the bat because im already looking at about 8 years of schooling as it is... im going for a masters in psycology...any advise?

  1. I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL DECADES AGO . WITH A  70 AVERAGE AT THE END OF MY JR YEAR I WAS STILL ABLE TO GET ACCEPTED TO  A STATE (CHEAP) & PRIVATE ($$$$) COLLEGE. BOTH SCHOOLS ARE FIRST TIER PER US NEWS . YET BOTH ARE SO SO ACADEMICALLY RATED.

EVEN IN A SO SO RATED COLLEGE,   I FOUND THAT COLLEGE WAS MUCH HARDER THAN  MY WELL RATED  HIGH SCHOOL.

I THINK YOU ARE ASKING THE WRONG QUESTION.

IN MY  TOTALLY UNEXPERT OPINION   I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ASKING   ,  WHY AM I DOING BADLY ?

IN MY CASE I FOUND OUT  ABOUT  MY  TREATABLE PROBLEM IN MY 30's.

ALSO IF YOU  GET A PSYCH BS FROM A 2nd RATE (OR WORSE) COLLEGE WITH 2nd RATE GRADES  CAN YOU GET A  JOB  OR INTO  A MASTERS PROGRAM.  COLLEGE IS A MAJOR PURCHASE.  FIVE YEARS FROM NOW YOU DONT WANT TO BE UNEMPLOYED WITH MAJOR COLLEGE  DEBT ON YOUR BACK.

SPEAK TO KNOWLEGDEABLE PEOPLE FOR ADVISE.

      GOOD LUCK

  2. GPA + SAT scores usually go hand in hand, but give it a shot for both the 4 year and two year.  The two year can serve as a plan B.  The worst that can happen is they may turn you down, but you will not know until you try.

Two year colleges are not all that bad... so you'll do your 1st two years in a college... so what!  I did the same and I lost no time.  Now I have a Masters in Counseling and work at a 2-year college as an academic counselor making mega bucks in CA.  Good luck on you decision!

    It's also alot cheaper!
