Is there any institution or school for mental disable from age 12 to 20 in Melbourne?

  1. Do you mean someone with a intellectual disability, or just a speaking/writing problem - if it's a speaking writing problem what is the reason.

    For both yes there are

    12-18 they can either go to a special school (have to be classed as intelectually disabled) or go to a mainstream school with an IEP (Individual Education Plan)

    18-20 there are some Adult Day centres for adults with a disability. These are mostly for those who have been to special schools or there are accredited courses at TAFE or  non accredited courses at various community centres etc.

    At TAFE the best courses to do for this person would be Certificate I Transition Education or a course in spoken and written english.

    If the person has a problem with speaking it may be a good idea for them to see a speech pathologist. Most of the special school and Adult Day centres have one on staff.
