  1. I have a beardie too. I'd request either reptile carpet which can be found in most pet stores or tile. Tile is good when picking up their poo, it wipes clean really well, but reptile carpet is good for traction.

  2. I have to recommend sticking away from loose substrate altogether.  I personally use, love and recommend non-adhesive shelf liner (Wal-Mart, Duck Brand, about $9 a roll) in combination with sealed slate or cermic tiles.  just spot clean as needed.  There's no risk of impaction (which is particularly hazardous in young dragons) it's asthetically nice to look at and it helps keep the cage MUCH cleaner.  I've used everything from playsand to that excavator c**p and will never go back.

Keep in mind the natural substrate in the area where Pogona Vittacepts are found is a hard, clay based flooring very similar in texture and feel to tiles.  You can have them cut to shape at any home hardware store and they're cheap and last forever!  Plus, they help trim the dragons nails so you don't have to explain strange scratch marks with "my dragon got me...!" lol

  3. Moss is not something you should use for bearded dragons, as stated you don't want something that will retain water and create humidity.

I can understand not wanting to use sand because it gets everywhere, however that is one of the better bedding (and easiest to clean) for them.

Cypress mulch is also a great product to use for them.   After drying out with a heat lamp it can be used with little fuss.

However, even if sand gets on your floor, a hand vacuum is a great little tool for easy clean up.

  4. Its best to stick to substrates like sand for beardeds--things that dont retain a lot of humidity. I recently bought some millet seed bedding for low humidity and it works pretty well if you have a shallow layer. What are you housing your bearded in that it can put sand all over your floor? Anyway, I'd say no on the moss as it's basically completely unnatural and a good rule of thumb with reptiles is to not stray from what's at least close to natural.

  5. You may want to stay away from that as a bedding. I would imagine that the beardie would possible attempt to eat it. aspen bedding is decent but I wouldn't say there is one bedding out there that is all wonderful. It depends from person to person.
