Question:

Is there any kind of wallpaper or wall covering that I can use in my dorm room?

Okay so in two weeks I will be leaving for college. Luckily I will have my own room but it will be incredibly small...smaller than a jail cell. So I want to spruce it up and cover the cinder block walls. Is there any kind of wallpaper or wall covering that will be easy to apply, remove, and won't leave any residue? I was looking into some vinyl wall lettering and art...but I think that I would rather have something to cover an entire wall to break up all the white.

Please help and direct me to any websites if possible!

Thanks in advance for your advice and help!

  1. Keeping in mind all the rules for dorm rooms, I've recommended here in Answers to get one or more of those over the toilet shelving units. They stand tall, can be set apart with a board for shelving or rod for more hanging space, they are light weight, come in many styles, are not attached to the wall and still allow floor space below. Get creative with what you do with it - display and store things on the shelving, hang posters, bulletin/white board from the sides or back, clamp a lamp to it, add twinkle lights, whatever! Have fun, good luck and do your homework! LT

  2. I don't think you can put wallpaper on the wall of a dorm, you aren't buying it, you are renting it. I would just ask the school before you go shop for the wallpaper. Just hang things on the wall. I can't paint the walls in my room so I got some old records and I put then in chunks on the wall. Then I put some old movie posters that are signed, on the wall too. It helps a lot. Plus, if you are a fresman you will most likely be moving after your sophmore year into the "big kids" dorm.
