just opposite to mambalam railway sub urban station you have lot of ladies hostel. you have also ladies hostel in permbur and anna nagar area of chennai. you have ywca at egmore in ponnamalli high road .  here are some ladies hostel and there phone numbers

There should be many.

A year back, one of my friend stayed in Ashok Nagar and the place and food was good.  I don't have any contact details, but it is very near to Ashok Nagar piller and you should be able to identify very easily if you go there.  They provide weekly, monthly basis.
