Is there any laws in relation to a foreigner becoming a doctor in japan?

im currently studying medicine at trinity collage dublin, (the best collage in ireland) and i relay want to move to japan, but i also relay want to become a surgeon, i was thinking of transferring to the university of tokyo (i know what's involved, and its easier to move to japan from ireland than america) but is there any laws preventing me from practicing medicine in japan? have any of you ever seen a white doctor in japan? thanks.

  1. I'm pretty sure nothing can stop you from being a doctor in Japan. I'm pretty sure you'll only cater to other foreigners. I really have no experience in this subject, but I've looked around for some sites that might help you.

  2. Yes, there is a process for becoming licensed in Japan. Just like the USA, Japan has medical examinations that you must take and pass in order to get your license. Also, your course of study must be approved by the licensing authority. I suggest you contact your Japanese Embassy and ask for them to direct you to the appropriate authority.
