Is there any legislation regarding working in an office that has no windows or natural light?

Myself and at least one other person are being asked to move into a small office that has no natural light. It is in the centre of a building opening on to a corridor. Also in the office there is a sink amd a door into a staff toilet, that also has no outside light. Therefore we will be working within hearing distance of someone using the toilet. Is there any legislation that regulates this type of thing?

  1. No, only if it gets too cold can you complain

  2. if you work in a casino in the uk you dont see daylight  as there is no windows also there are no clocks normally so afraid if you dont like it then tuff

  3. Dont think so..  I work for the government and quite often work in a room with no natural light and only air conditioning!

  4. Not regarding the windows, but health and safety law may cover the toilet facilities. There must be adequate ventilation and at least two doors into the toilet facility other wise the HSE might regard the room as part of the toilet facilities and not an office. Which may make it unsuitable for the function intended unless you are a toilet attendant.

If you are in a Union complain to them and see what can be done to improve your working conditions.

  5. Make extra money charge for the loo,

  6. None other than your right to quit and find another job...

  7. I'm in the same boat.  It really sucks not having any windows!

  8. Just quit your job and quit whining.
