  1. A meteor is just a piece of space debris (usually quite small) entering the earth's atmosphere at high speed and burning up from friction. There's nothing special about it at all, it happens all the time. A piece of space debris doesn't care if you wish on it or not, and even if it did care, it would have no power to grant your wish anyway. Sorry.

  2. I've met people who wish on "shooting stars."  I never do.  I see them every  clear night,  and I'm still not married, or a millionaire, or King of earth.  It would seem exceedingly pointless during a meteor shower, when you can see up to 100 per hour (depending on the shower and the viewing conditions), and, well, I simply can't keep track of that many wishes.

  3. When we were growing up it was popular to express a wish when you saw a shooting star.  The idea was to say it quick and fast because if you didn't finish saying your wish while it was still visible, it wouldn't come true.

A ditty we said when seeing our first star at night went something like, "Star light, star bright, I wish I may, I wish I might; have the wish I wish tonight."  This one was easy cause you had plenty of time.

  4. Same here...

You should try Society and Culture, they can help you there.

  5. My outlook on meteors is purely scientific.  Sorry
