Is there any living creatures that could live without breathing any air?

My grandma heard from friends that there is a creature who can live without breathing air... She came to ask me, i have no clue at all.. anyone has any ideaS?

  2. Yes there are creatures that can life without air, like fish, and there are creatures that can live without oxygen, like those huge tube worms that live in deep-ocean hydro-thermal vents.

  3. All multicellular creatures breathe.  Like the poster above mentioned, not all breathing creatures breathe air.

    If you're willing to branch out a bit, anaerobic bacteria do not need to "breathe" at all.

No creatures do that, assuming you're actually referring to oxygen.  However, there are single-celled organisms that don't require the stuff.  Some even find the oxygen poisonous.  These things are known to their friends as anaerobic organisms.  Perhaps that's what your grandmother heard about.
