Is there any math way to figure out my 40 yard dash speed?

Hey, i ran the 100m for track and field, and i got 13.81 seconds, is there any math way i could like divid or sumthin to figure my 40 yard dash out?

  1. The above answer is wrong. He did not switrch units - what he ended up giving you was your time for the 40 meter dash - you asked for 40 yards. The method would work if you simply want the average time ran.

    But we all know that a true 40 yard speed is not constant. Your start makes up most of the time - did you get out fast, or were you slow to react? extrapolating from a 100 meter, switching it to yards and taking a fraction of the time is not the best way to do it - because its not a true time.

    the best way is to simply run another one.


  2. You can use proportions.

    100yd/13.81sec = 40yd/x sec

    Cross multiply.

    100x = 55.24

    Divide by 100 on both sides.

    x = 5.24.

    So, if you ran at the same speed, you'd dash 40 yards in 5.24 seconds.
