I have PCOS and my ob gyne gave me met 500 mg 3x a day...The side effects are horrible....I feel dizzy, I have headaches and i feel so disoriented.

I take the med after each meal (I eat well) and after awhile, say 1-2hours, i experience something like the effects of hypoglycemia...Headache then dizziness...

I've even mistaken it as I'm pregnant already.

Do i really have to take met so I could have a baby? It's really awful, I cannot work well...I always have to go home early..

  1. Metformin is pretty much it, to help with regulating the periods, and controlling the system of PCOS. I too, take it 3 * a day, 500 mg of it. The Gyn should've started you out by taking 1 a day, then 2 a day, etc.I had horrible side-effects as well, vomitted, nauseous alot, and have lost my appetite as well. But, it did make me loose about 15lbs, which is good for fertility, and helps you ovulate better. I would stick to the Met, as it should only take a few weeks for you to get it in your system, and get use to it. I would not stop taking it, it has many benefits. Just make sure to take it w/ food! Taking the Met doesn't help you have a baby either, it's just Step 1 in the process, and fertility drugs are next. And they are just as bad when it comes to side-effects. I take Clomid, and experience the most horrible migranes ever! So, good luck, hang in there, and give the Metformin a try for a while longer.

METFORMIN: Helps regulate Blood Sugar, helps regulate periods that are irregular, and makes you loose weight, which in the end can help you ovulate better**********************************...
