Is there any merit in a North vs South game.?

How about a selection of the Southern hemisphere versus the Northern hemisphere?

I think it would be a good idea , considering all the talk thats been going aroun about who are the strongest , i mean everyone expected the RWC to be dominated by the Southern hem. nations.

The only problem i can see is trying to fit in a tournament like that inbetween the already hectic scedule , but maybe it can be like every 2 years , a similiar concept to the soccer Euro tournament.

Can you imagine trying to select a Southern team? Who would be on the panel and how would the selectors choose? It would create such controversy and division in the various unions. The New Zealanders would insist that their entire dream team should be selected, the Aussies would want Dickenson to ref, the South Africans would be deemed to be too brutal, while the Argentineans would only be included if they could match their soccer counterparts mastery in feigning injury in the oppositions 22!

Perhaps for a bit of fun. But to be honest when you consider that a lot of the Northern Hemisphere play here anyway, probably not too much point. Plus there are so many matches anyway, national leagues, world cup, 6 nations, tri nations, Lions tours, Barbarian matches, 7 a side....not really going to have time.

I honestly don't think it's of any use, but for it's entertainment value.

The players will hardly have enough time to prepare and without proper preparation - what should be a spectacle might turn into a sloppy and unentertaining game
