  1. The Morrigan often appeared as a crow in Ireland, and is associated with death in most Irish and English stories.

In Nordic Mythology, Odin kept two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, who flew over the entire world every day and whispered what they'd seen back to Odin.

I don't know of many web sites, but I can drop a few hundred book titles on you if you emailed an interest in this.

  2. And let's not forget that the first bird that Noah released after the flood was a raven, but it didn't come back (Genesis 8:7).

  3. Your best bet would be American Indian legends, and Celtic legends.

  5. In addition to Heron's answer, the Native Americans believed that crows represented the quality of laws (tribal rules), and ravens represented mystery and magic.  The Northwest Indians also believed that Raven brought man up out of the sea.  He is often pictured after that as a trickster god, akin to Coyote of the Plains and Southwest tribes, the fox of Europe, and Loki of the Norse.
