  1. A few states do have programs like this (most using K12 curriculum); though, often it is a desktop, not laptop computer that is provided and they are loans not gifts. To find out if your state is one of these, you can Google or Yahoo your state and the words 'virtual'. If you need more specific terms, some states will call these a virtual school (federally-funded) or a virtual academy (state-funded). Most that post here on such programs really don't care whether it is legally a homeschool program or a virtual public school, but just in case it does matter to you, if you enroll in one of these officially you are a public school student. The daily experience though is not too much different than traditional homeschooling at the K to 8th grade range because pre-high school your mom would still be your primary teacher. At the high school level, it typically shifts to independent study and an online teacher-led model.

Since you are posting here, you may not need a computer as bad as you think. If you have access at home to a computer, you may have what you need to utilize other online programs besides the ones I mentioned above which loan free  laptops and desktops as a norm for their programs.

I don't necessarily endorse any of the schools in the following list. I am just aware that they run online courses. These are private online schools. That means that they are fee-based.

There are a few homeschool online course co-ops that are looking at or using online tools now to deliver their homeschool co-op courses. You may want to look into these or make a suggestion to your local homeschool group to look into doing something like it. Often homeschool co-ops will ofter their courses free or at very low cost to its members. I teach in a program like this and love it. We use Elluminate as our online classroom and Moodle as our course management system. Moodle is a free open source software and a ten-seater Elluminate online classroom is just $50/month which when spread out among co-op members can be a mere few dollars per family. It is the same online classroom used by the big virtual academies. If all that is needed is a 3-seater version, for tutoring perhaps, the co-op can use the free 3-seater vRoom version. The vRoom also makes it no-risk for a co-op to just try out the idea of online classes.

  2. If you don't have the money for virtual school, and returning to your school is not an option, considering schooling the "old fashioned way" by deciding what you want to study, making a lesson plan, then hitting the library.

If you are not willing to put that much effort in to your education and would rather have someone do the work for you, make an appointment to talk to a counselor at your school, you may qualify for school at home offered through your district.
