  1. Yes I am a student there now and I love it becasue I don't have to take student loans to attend. As a matter a fact I attended another cosmetolgy school about 5 years ago (They were 4.5  times more expensive than Tennessee Tech) and I can say that Tennessee Tech is more structered and they make sure to show you the foundations of cosmetology and they follow their curricullum to make sure that we students don't miss out on anything. I can't say the same thing about the other school, as a matter of fact, I lost hours at the other school cause they won't report my hours to the Tennessee State Board - and nope, I don't owe them any money! (if you email me, I will send you the name of the school). Tennessee Tech keeps up with your hours (they update you on your status at the end of every month) and there is no time clock to clock in and out. Yep you guessed it! They call roll and they are very strict with the time restraints. If you go through orientation, they will brief you on this.

Also, they just replaced our teacher with another (She was very good, she was very good at theory and practical, most teachers lack strength in on area or another). We are yet to meet the new teacher, so I don't know how much this will change things, even though I'm sure the department head  (Ms. B.) will make sure the new teacher stays on point.

Also, Tennessee Tech has a relationship with Southwest Tennessee Community College and they are accredited by SACS (I don't know of any other cosmetology school in Memphis who can make that claim!). This means that you will get about 30 general elective hours (if you complete the entire cosmetology program at Tennessee Tech) when you transfer to Southwest ( that awesome, 30 hours save you about 2 semesters of work - give or take).

My only complaint would be that they run the school like a State school or like a high school for adults (so you will see a lot things going on that take you back to your senior days). I can deal with this, because I let God fight my battles (most of the time). Act like an adult and get treated like an adult, act like a young person/teenager and get treated that way too.

Anyways, I could go on and on about it. Feel free to contact me if you have other questions. Good Luck!
