  1. I guess if you are at least 18-years-old and have a lot of handling and riding experience and weigh in the neighborhood of 115 pounds, you might gain the experience you need and work your way up to becoming a jockey if you get a referral from a trainer or owner to work on the back side of a track. You might start out as a stable assistant, then maybe walking cool downs after races and then work your way up to ponying racehorses off the track after exercise or racing. And then from there I suppose you could work your way up to exercising racehorses. Soon then you might qualify to sign up for the jockey schooling races at the track, which are practice races where track stewards will judge skills and ability to handle the horse safely out of the gate and on the racecourse, and with the experience of some jockey schooling races and the assistance of a racehorse trainer or owner you should eventually be able to get your jockey license at the track. And once you have a license from any sanctioned racetrack I expect it should be valid at every sanctioned track. Good luck and start young if that is your goal because I am sure reaching that goal will not be a quick or easy task.

  2. the jockey school.com

it is run by a former jockey in california.

  3. Yea You can go to a school !

Find a trainer that will hire you then you will have a license to be on the track ,,,and watch the riders and see if thats what you really want to do ?

You have to have some kind of license to get on the back side.

And you need lots of experience with horses

You can ride with permission from parents at the age of 16 teen

But thats rare,, Because those people have been on the track for yrs with parents that trained.. or with someone else, They grow up with on the track and was there all the time !! ,,

So the best I can say Is try a school ! Or go work for a farm !

If your weight is UNDER  105,, Because a""bug ""will race with tack at 105

So is your weight right ? and height ? and the heart to do it ?

    I hope so !

Chris MC Caren has a school back east

Unless you know someone that will get you on the track !!
