  1. did your pharmacist say only his drugstore wouldn't, or all drugstores wont. why is that? has it been recalled, or something? if nobody in your city will refill it, then you better go to the doctor, and get him to prescribe something that you can get- you don't need to be running all over the country just to get a refill.

  2. There are a few but not many.  The reason is the possiblity of liver damage.  I would try another antidepressant.

  3. Many companies have stopped manufacturing the drug due to FDA warnings of increased thoughts of suicide and actions of suicide in children and adults.  The same warning was posted for many antidepressants.  But some have higher rates of this side effect, which is why companies stop making it.

As of my research tonight, the following forms of this drug are still being manufactured by the following companies:

NEFAZODONE HYDROCHLORIDE (ANDA # 076302);  (Company - SANDOZ)

NEFAZODONE HYDROCHLORIDE (ANDA # 076309); (Company - DR REDDYS LABS INC)

NEFAZODONE HYDROCHLORIDE (ANDA # 076409); (Company - RANBAXY)

Inquire with your Pharmacist (give him or her the above list) and ask if they would be willing to order it from these companies.  If not, find out if your prescription insurance offers a mail order prescription service - it typically covers a 3 month supply and is less costly to you.

This info and other info on drugs are available at the official website for the U.S. Food And Drug Administration.
