Is there any other kind of over the counter headache pill that is very similar to fioricet?

  1. Excedrin has the Tylenol, caffeine, and adds aspirin.  It works well for my wife.  I use fioricet because my doctor prescribes it for me.  The Excedrin stopped working some years ago because my migraines got worse.  You have to get a prescription from a doctor to get on it.  It can be addicting for some though and can cause rebound headaches.  Women in particular can get very addicted to Fioricet and Fiorinal because of the barbiturate Butabarbital.  Sometimes they can develop a very bad habit and continue to increase the tablets (and build a high tolerance).  Doctors take this into consideration when prescribing it to people.


  2. No.   Fiornal is an opioid/barbiturate combination that is only available by prescription.
