Question:

Is there any other place to find a bunny other than Craigslist?

I'm not so sure I want to go through with a humane society, it's such a frustrating process even though I would love to adopt from them. I am looking for a specific breed and they do not like that. I have checked on Craigslist to rehome a doe. I was wondering if there's any other website I can go to where breeders are willing to let people adopt their bunnies? Thank you in advance.

  1. Try a breeder. They will charge you, but not as much for a pet quality bunny. This website might help.

  2. go to pet finder and then on the mid-left side click on dvanced search and you can put in what breed and a few other details to find the perfect bunny.

  3. Try kijiji.ca or kijiji.com.

They have breeders and people looking for new homes for their bunnies.

  4. What breed are you looking for and where are you located? If you want to e-mail me with more information, I can probably direct you to some good breeders. All breeders have pet quality rabbits for sale at most times, so it shouldn't be a problem locating one in your area!

  5. Try petfinder.com

  6. check your local newspaper.

  7. Try http://www.LiveSimon.com - The Free Auction and Classified Community.

    -- It's Free

-- View listings nationwide or local

-- Both auctions and classifieds on one site

-- New Scam/Spam protection (also free)

-- You can post both photos and videos

    -- View sellers other listings

-- Map the item to know exactly where it is

-- Save to favorites and watch the listings

    -- and so much more!

  8. look at a vet, newspaper or a local petstore or a friend! but the vet is probably the best, i got mine at a vet

  9. Just like buying good dogs, I think there are two best sources to buy from  -  the shelter or the show exhibitor/breeder.  I think buying from an ARBA exhibitor/breeder is what you want to do.

The ARBA is the AKC of the rabbit world.  There are 47 recognized breeds to choose from so decide what breed you want first then find the breeder who shows that breed.  A good place to start is with the ARBA's website.  Look at the different breed photos and click on them to be linked to that breed's national breed club and learn more.  Like dogs, the different rabbit breeds vary in physical characteristics, care requirements and temperament so do a little research before you buy.

It sounds like you may already have a breed in mind.  Using the ARBA's breed page, go to that breed's national breed club and see if they maintain a breeder's directory.  Find a breeder near you or contact the club secretary for a referral.  There may be state breed clubs in your area, too.  They may be listed on the national websites.

Alternatively, you could find a rabbit show near you (also found on the ARBA website) and meet the various breeds in person.  You'll find many breeds at the shows.  Some will be for sale.  If you don't see what you are looking for at the show you can make contacts with exhibitors who may be able to help you find what you want.  Rabbit exhibitors are very friendly people who are always willing to help and talk to strangers about rabbits.
