Is there any other way to get to the dentist quicker on NHS?

i have to wait for a year till i can get an appointment on the NHS.

I've never been before due to some, not so good bringing up by parents.

i can only go if i've got painful tooth or any cavities.

but i need braces, how do i get there quicker, like, book an appointment? and free, because i cannot afford private. 15 years old.

you are 15 yrs old, you dont pay for dental treatment until you reach 16 and even then to pay you must be no longer in full time education, book an appointment is a good start, as there may be cancellations etc before your appointment, also you could consider getting into a private dental practice, as you dont pay for it yet

Most areas have some sort of help line or website which can help you find an NHS dentist.  Also, if you are still only 15, it will be easier for you to find a dentist than it would be for an adult.

What area do you live in?  Try putting your postcode in here and seeing what it comes up with http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/find/results...

then just call around to try and find a dentist who will accept you on their list.  However, if its actually the braces you are wanting quicker, that might not be possible...I was told it would be 3 years before they would fit me with braces on the NHS (but then I am an adult, so perhaps its different).  The only other option would be to go private, but getting braces privately can over £1000 (would have been £3000 for mine on upper and lower jaws).

There is no waiting period for any treatment provided by the NHS, all services are provide instantaneously (almost the second you think of it)!  This is why Obama want to do this type of health care scheme in the U.S.
