  1. bearded dragons dont need uv light, they will be fine without it

  2. They'll be fine for a week or two.

  3. You should be fine for just a week just make sure that they have a heat source of some sore so that they can digest their food otherwise they can bind up. Other than that they should always have a UV light for the vitamins that they would naturally get in the wild from the sun. (They live in deserts)

  4. my beardie doesnt have a UV light and hes very healthy. just take them outside a couple minutes a day.

  5. they will probably be ok but i would get a supplement with d3 in it to help but it should be fine for a couple of weeks.

ignore steve blue snake i know there have been a few (and i mean a very limited number) of success cases of bearded dragons being kept for life without uv but there have been many many more cases of people killing, crippling and generally harming there pets by not giving them UV

kittycat200 it is advised that bearded dragons get a minimum of 8 hours uv a day so unless your hanging around outside for ages i would really recommend getting a UV light.

bearded dragons need uv to help produce D3 which helps with calcium absorption as well as other health benefits

no UV can lead to metabolic bone disease (MBD) as well as deformed young sterile eggs and lowered immune system.

D3 can be given through supplements but getting the correct dosage is almost impossible. in too high dosages this can kill your beardy and in too low it can lead to the above conditions and dosage depends on the animal in question and can change through out its life.

I don’t understand people who don’t provide uv for there breadys your risking your pet its just thoughtless and selfish penny pinching that has a good chance of expensive to cure problems later in life

  6. Go to wal-mart & get a light timer...I use one with all my herps (I have 4 beardies plus 2 water dragons & a basilisk that are dinural....alot of lights!! lol)  They make life so much less complicated and I don't worry about messing up their schedule when I need to stay overnight.  If you can't bring your lights, try & get them out in the sun for about 20 minutes a day to bask & soak up the UV rays.  Use an ordinary houshold halogen bulb for heat and you should be fine!  Have fun on your holiday! ~Michelle
