I am a us residence only that is why they require me to get a visa.

I am planning to go on a week vacation in Italy, but based on their website I still need to go to Chicago just to apply in person... that does sound not reasonable.. right?

    call them and ask;

    since it is an Honrary consul it should be able to provide you with a visa, no, it does not sound reasonable since there is one in Mn ,

    ps:

    i did find the answer: the Italian consulate in

    Chicago does cover:

    Jurisdiction : Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

    and since you are an US resident, you cannot participate in the VWP visa waiver program.therefore, yes you need a visa,

  2. If you are going on a week vacation you do not need visa to enter Italy.You may enter Italy with a valid passport.
