Question:

Is there any place I can go to pay for tires inflation service if I don't wanna inflate tires myself?

I don't mind to pay a little bit but I don't know where to go, and I don't wanna do it myself since I have a SUV and no one will help me w/ 4 tires =(

Should I bring it to the dealership or they would think that I'm stupid?

  1. Any of the tire stores that you see around town or on the highway would be happy to check them for you.  Sears or any repair shop would too.

  2. It would be simpler (for me) to put air in the tire than to ask this question.  But I guess that what makes the world go around.  Sadly the "service" station barely pumps gas for you.

This may sound obnoxious (sorry) but get a boyfriend, brother, or father (or mother) to do it for you.  Other than that, tire (flat) repair shop will do it for few buck.

    Good Luck.

  3. Would they think you were stupid?  Yes.  Would they TELL you that they think you're stupid, probably not.

Seriously, what you describe is about the easiest car maintenance thing there is.  Being scared to do this is a sign of profound helplessness.

Anyhow, yeah, any tire place, full-service gas station (if any still exist) or oil-change place can do it.  In fact a GOOD oil-change place WILL do it any time they change your oil, along with a safety inspection.

I say unless you're due for an oil change, just do it yourself.  Pull your car up to the air compressor at a gas station, put in coins if it isn't free, and fill your tires to the pressure recommended by the car's manufacturer or the pressure recommended on the sidewall of the tire, whichever is lower.  There is a pressure indicator on the air nozzle, so it's really easy.  If you need to lower the air pressure, just press on the little button inside the valve stem.

I don't think it being an SUV has anything to do with it.

edit:  If you get your tires rotated, make sure that they only switch them front to back if you have directional tires.  If they swap them side to side, you'll be running your tires backwards, and your traction won't be as good.

  4. HI V!

I am going to make an educated guess here and say that if you are not comforable with tire inflation, that you probably don't change your oil yourself either?  I'm just sayin...

Anyway, most full service oil change service centers also check other fluids and tire air pressure.  Vavoline centers , at least in my areas, will "top off" all fluids and yes, check and fill tire pressures, for free between oil changes if you use there center for your oil changes.

    Just a suggession.

  5. any tire place will do it...

but seriously it isn't that difficult...even if you have NO clue what you are doing..instructions are simple...

  6. It's really very simple to do.  Ask at any tire store, and they'd be glad to show you how.  Think of the feeling of independence you'll have.

Or better yet - if you haven't had it done lately, take the car in and ask to have the tires rotated.  This should be done every 6-10,000 miles, depending on who you talk to.  It evens the wear, and they'll do the inflation as part of the job.

  7. Just go to any independent automotive shop and ask them to check and or add air as needed, we do this all the time for my regular customers as well as for people off the street and we don't charge anything.

    Good Luck
