I dont' wanna throw away my used clothes and shoes in trash. I think someone might find it useful. However, I don't have any idea of where to donate.

Also is there anyway I can know what condition is acceptable for donating the used stuffs? I don't wanna feel ridiculed if they find it not acceptable.

I am not looking for any tax benefits out of it, I just want to get rid of these stuffs and help somebody needy.

thanks

  1. I'm not sure exactly where you are in Fairfax, but there is a large Salvation Army thrift facility on Route 236 (Little River Turnpike); see http://www.satruck.org/LocationMap.aspx?... for a map.

I do this regularly; organizations like this discard about 25% of the items that are donated to them because they aren't in a condition that can be used.  They put them in a "Thrift Store" and sell them off (very inexpensively) to raise money and to provide a way for low-income families to clothe themselves, etc.

  2. Salvation Army

    (703) 385-8700

    4915 Ox Rd

    Fairfax, VA

  3. Contact Paul VI High School...they do a lot of clothing drives during the year.

Also, most local churches and homeless shelters will accept these type of gifts. And I believe there is a salvation army in the area as well.

  4. Goodwill, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Local Churches.

Contact your local Social Services they will be able to point you in many good directions.  Most places are not concerned about condition as long as they are clean and are not a "biohazard". :0)  I am proud of you for thinking of the less fortunate!!
