Is there any place near Las Vegas to collect rocks?

I am going to Las Vegas for about a week, and would love to find a salt mine or salt mine dump to collect some specimens.

Vegas is a great rock collecting place! We are not far at all from the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Death Valley, and Bryce Canyon...they're like day trips, it's amazing.

I suggest going over to Zion, because on the way there you should reach a small town called Hurricane where they have many rock shops with interesting and natural looking pieces.

If you head over to Death Valley and drive through Beatty, you should reach a ghost town called Rhyolite - that is also a great place to collect rocks, I just love it there.
