Please I'd like to get some information about this issue, I need it to make a monograph. Sorry if my command of English is not the best, I'm not a native speaker.

  1. No, what on earth have you been smoking? The whole purpose of the higher houses in parliaments is that they aren't directly elected by the electorate.

  2. The Labour party would like an elected house of lords, and has been messing with the house for years. But there is no real or official plan to do this.

  3. No. The issue was debated at a recent House of Lords Committee. Today, the House of Commons (the elected) can over-rule the House of Lords(unelected) and force laws through, in Parliament, although the Lords may have voted against it. If the Lords were elected, the committee believed a politiical conflict would arise when both Houses disagreed. It is believed the House of Lords would claim they had an elected mandate from the people to reject the Commons decision. This would throw governing the country into turmoil. So it will not happen.

  4. The Labour Party have put it on hold again.

  5. The Labour party have always been trying to remove the independence of the house of Lords, however now that they have managed to fill it with their people they will not want to have the public remove their advantage.

  6. No. Find another 'issue' for your monograph.

  7. "Huh" !....What's a monograph, and what the heck is the "House of Lords"?
