  1. I'm pretty sure you can still do something where you directly kill people, if that's what you're looking for.  Women can now be fighter pilots in the USAF.  There are probably other jobs.  Try asking several recruiters in different offices.  Don't trust the word of just one recruiter.

  2. You are correct in your assessment.  Enlisted "Combat Arms" jobs such as Infantry, Artillery, and Armor (and all the sub-MOS fields like Scout-Sniper, Recon, etc) are all "Men Only".  Also, 0211 Counter-Intelligence is "Male Only" as well.

If you want to follow some of the other suggestions of being a pilot, you should speak with an Officer Selection Officer (for Marines) and get into a ROTC program because you will have to have a 4 Year Degree to go to OCS (Officer Candidate School).  Upon completion of that, then you can go to Flight School to become a Pilot.

Other than that, anyone telling you that you can be a Recon Marine or any of that nonsense is just blowing smoke.

    Hope this helps!

  3. so they say no women are allowed to be on the "front lines" well todays war has no front line.  join in the military police, or as an intel person.  They see action regularly.  You are not considered infantry but you will be doing the same stuff.

  4. Nope. Females cannot hold any type of "combat" position including infantry, recon, artillery, etc... If you want something "action" orientated go talk to a recruiter and find out what your options are.

  5. Unfortunately not young Marine!

Unless Congress approves woman in Combat Arms jobs, that's strictly a dream unanswered to our woman troops.

Maybe someday this will change but it's been a topic of many debates. Legislature can't pass for some reason.  I suspect, and I've heard that the logistic portion of this remedy alone is enough to say "no" .

  6. As of now, no women are technically allowed in combat arms professions.

That is not to say we have not had women who have performed honorably in combat, but their MOSs were not combat specific.

If you want to be around the weapons, I would suggest Armory, Aviation Ordnance, or perhaps Arty, (Dunno is that is off-limits to WMs or not.)

I know it is unfair, but that is the way it is right now.

If you are willing to get a 4 year degree you can fly F/A-18s in the Navy.  That is a career path that might get you on the pointy end of the spear by the time women are allowed to be there.

  7. As a helicopter pilot, yes you can be a recon pilot in either a Kiowa or Apache helicopter. The Army used to call it Cavalry, but now they're called Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadrons.

If you want your boots on the ground, your best option is to become an MP. MPs provide reconnaissance and security for other forces in the combat theater. In fact MPs see some of the heaviest fighting in Iraq on a day-to-day basis!

  8. nope.

  9. absolutely not
