  1. The problem with the presidential candidates doing something about it (wether they want to or not) is that the present foster/adoption system is run by each individual state...and each state has its own unique system.  The "system" can even vary in one state from county to county.  The funding is also a state matter and not federal, so changing these systems would take a lot a way from the state and there are not enough federal employees in each state to oversee and do what each state already doesn...

so imho, I dont think either one of them will be doing anything about it, even if they have hopes of doing so.

  2. Great question!!!  It is about time someone help these children here!

  3. Yes,

I can't immediately find anything on Barak Obama or John McCain, though.

  4. Hillary Clinton worked on the Safe and Stable Families Act of 1997 which determined that all children deserve permanency; therefore, any child that has been in foster care any 15 of the last 22 months the agency should then file a petition to terminate parental rights. In doing this children are released so that they may be adopted. For a child a month is a very long time, so imagine sitting in foster care for several years.

Hillary also mentions stipends and tax credits for kinship care so that families that step up to the plate can financially take care of the children in their families, thus keeping them in their community and with family which is the most important thing.

Hillary Clinton has been instrumental in making some of these changes and she mentions them in her platforms.
