  1. No.  At the moment there is no financial reward for the champion jockey - or jockeys as is the case this year!  All that happens is that a cheque for about £4,000 is paid to the Injured Jockeys Fund on the winners behalf.

It is about time someone stepped up and offered a prize to the champion jockey - under both codes.  One of the big three bookmakers, or the Tote, would be the best option - but I can't see them parting with their profits can you?!

Both Jamie and Seb have said that they will not actively chase Champion Jockey next year as the sheer amount of time it takes up, as well as the cost of paying for flights across the country is not worth it.  In his interview in the Racing Post yesterday Jamie said he thinks he may actually be worse off because of it!

Perhaps they ought to have a separate Turf and All-Weather Jockeys Championship (as well as one for the NH boys).  That way those chasing the Turf crown wont have to exhaust themselves flying back to ride at Wolverhampton on a miserable November evening.
