Question:

Is there any problems with installing an after market wakeboard tower on to a boat?

Such as cracking the fiberglass. Please include links if you know of any that can confirm your answer. Thank You

  1. well i know personally you will surely crack the fibreglass. other then that i have heard of no problems at all. apart from weight and sometimes the boat will 'snake' and drift to one side and will most probably topple over


  2. If the boat is big enough, and the tower is properly braced, it shouldn't be  a problem.

  3. Cracking is due to a lack of proper sized backing plates. You must be able to get behind the mounting points and through-bolt through backing plates approximately twice the size of the mounting flanges...also bed them in coumpound or polysulfide...3M5200 is also good but will never let go. If you have to cut holes to do it...make up a nice cover plate or order inspection ports.
