Is there any quotes in the book "To kill a mockingbird" that relate to world war 2?

  1. I don't have a copy of the book with me, but yes there are quotes that refer to WWII. Find the chapters that contain Aunt Alexandra. If you remember, she has the ladies of the town over for tea one afternoon, and the Scout is crammed into a dress and made to serve tea and cookies. The ladies talk at some length about the terrible way Hitler's Germany treats the Jews, but cannot relate that to the way their society treats black Americans.


  2. The story takes place in the late 1930's as the Great Depression was about to rear its ugly head.   WWII began in Europe in 1939, but American involvement didn't start until 1941, so there would have been no reason for Lee to refer to it in the novel.  There were no references to it.
