  1. I have used old jeans to make bags - lunch ones out of a cut off leg and a purse out of the bottom part.

I have had many complements on using my children's out grown shoes as planters (stick a little plastic inside as a liner).

I always wanted to make rag rugs out of old t-shirts - but have not found the time yet.

  2. Old CD cases can be turned into beautiful candle shades.  Just paint with that paint you use for window "sun catchers" then when dry stand up in front of a small votive or tea lite candle.  These make beautiful and economical gifts and are fairly easy for kids to make also.

The little plastic cups that Crystal Lite (or other powdered drink mixes) come in make cute little bells for the Christmas Tree.  Just turn them upside down and decorate any way you like.  Then punch a hole in the center of the bottom, run a piece of fishing line through the hole, then through the loop in the top of a jingle bell and back up through the hole in the cup.  Tie into a loop and you're ready to decorate the tree.

You can weave yarn or ribbon through the pattern in the little green plastic boxes strawberries come in and turn them into cute little baskets to hold make-up, hair accessories or just about anything on a dresser or counter.

Old paper gift or shopping bags make cute totes and to shore them up you can measure plastic canvas to fit the inside then stitch together to make a box the same size as the inside of the bag.  Add a few extra pieces of plastic canvas to make pockets then slip down inside your bag and run the bag handles through the plastic canvas also to secure your "box."

  3. My favorite is to take a yogurt container, slice the lid nice and strait ,now you got yourself a butler for cleaning crumbs off of counter tops.

  4. I have a friend who once showed me how to make cool snowflakes out of the 6-pack plastic for sodas & beer.  If you start now you'll be ready to decorate for Christmas!
