  1. Reach Bangalore and take bus via Hassan. Now there is a train running from Bangalore to Mangalore which is 12 hours. Udupi- Mangalore is 40 km and 1 hour travel. Dharmastala is 2 hours from Mangalore & easier.

  3. Dear friend,

You can get to Udupi from hyderabd by train. It may not be very convenient as you may have to change twice (once at Bangalore and once at Mangalore). I would advice you take a train which reaches Bangalore from Hyderabad by evening. Bangalore Mangalore express starts at 8.00 pm. You will reach Mangalore by morning 7.00. At Mangalore railway station you will find many private buses waiting to go to  Udupi. You will reach within one and half hours.

There are many places of interest depending on what you wish to do. Pilgrimage: Mookambika-Kollur, Kukke-Subrahmanaya, Dharmasthala are famous temples.

Maravanthe beach, Malpe beach, St Mary's Island are good places for a day out.

  4. take rail 4m h'bad to b'lore...........take bus 4m b'lore to manipal .........just before manipal is udupi stop..........6-7 hrs travel in bus........train takes a long route of 12 hours........bus travel is just 6 hours.........then take 3 hours travel to dharmasthala.........

  5. travel via mangalore

  6. Udupi has got a railway station.....its named Udupi railway station.....

    Coordinates: 13°20'29"N   74°45'44"E

The Temple City. The city is called as Rajathapeethapura or Roopyapeethapura in the holy books. It is one of the major cities of Karnataka. Udupi City Municipal Council came into existance in 1995. Earlier, it was a Town Municipal Council. It is famous for the world famous Sri Krishna Temple. The idol of Krishna was installed by the Dwaita Philosopher Sri Madhwacharya, who is one of the three Acharyas of South India. Sri Krishna Temple is located in heart of Udupi City and is at walking distance from the bus terminus. From railway station(4 kms from temple) one can hire an auto rickshaw to the temple(Very costly option especially during nights!!!). Trains plying from Kerala, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Gujrat, Rajasthan stop at Udupi Station since it is a major station in Konkan Railway line. Bajpe Airport is located at approx. 60 kms. from the city. Domestic flights (operated by Indian, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Air Deccan) from Bengalooru and Mumbai are available to Bajpe. Air India Express operates international flights from Dubai, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah to Bajpe and other Middle East cities are expected to cover soon. Taxis are available in abundance to Udupi from airport.

  7. There is a direct daily ARSRTC semi-deluxe bus from Hyderbad to Mangalore. You can alight at Udupi where it has a scheduled stop. You can then finish Udupi, Moodbidri, Manipal etc and head to Dharmasthala.

The other options are breaking your journey at Bangalore. I would suggest an overnight bus journey from Bangalore to Udupi directly as the train from Bangalore is only till Mangalore. You would have to take a bus from Mangalore to reach Udupi (distance: 60 kms). Sometimes the train (which already takes 12 hrs scheduled time) gets a little late.

If you're coming through Bangalore, Dharmasthala is en route to Mangalore, you can alight there finish the spots and head to Mangalore/Udupi.
