Is there any reason to keep old/expired credit cards?

I'm always reading about why people should keep bills, tax forms, receipts, bank statements, etc., etc. for X number of years.

What about old credit cards/cards you've upgraded from? Is there any need to keep them just in case there are problems?

  1. hmmmm

  2. Destroy the cards but keep the account numbers in a safe place.

  3. No reason to keep them unless for sentimental value...for example, I kept the first credit card I ever got...corny I know....

  4. cant hurt you keeping them

  5. You have no use for them. If you don't have a shredder that will shred them, cut them in small pieces and I used to throw the pieces away in a couple different trash cans so there was no chance that it would be found and put back together like a puzzle.

  6. I've never kept them.  Once they're history, I cut them up or shred them.

  7. No, there is no reason to.  In fact, if you keep it you are increasing the chance that you will be a victim of fraud.  Assuming the account is active of course.  Just shred it.

    Good luck!

  8. Nope......cut em up.......burn them.............
