Is there any reason why EU national would need UK passport in UK?

im guessing i do not need UK citizenship although i could apply for this as im working here for 6 years now - but what is the benefit of this for UK nationals except voting rights?

You don't have to take British Citizenship even if you have been working here for a long time. Many people across the world would give anything to get a British Passport. Only you can say whether you would value being British and adopting British Culture, way of life etc and whether you would be happy to surrender your existing nationality.

One of the reasons you will need it is for identity purposes. It is a photo document that shows who you are. You do not need to take out citizenship, and I see no benefit to you, although I don't know which country you are from. As a British passport holder who needed assistance abroad I can tell you it's worth nothing, you may as well hold a passport from Africa. As an EU citizen in U.K. you can vote in local elections but not state elections. Keep your own passport and be proud of it.
